Now is the time to invest in young people.

At The Sylvia Center, we are working with vibrant young people who are unleashing their potential — and it starts in the kitchen. We invite you to join us in an effort to inspire the next generation of healthy food advocates, food entrepreneurs and leaders in the culinary space.

By opening your kitchen and sharing your passion and expertise, you can open the doors to meaningful opportunities and inspire our students to reach for new possibilities through cooking and learning in the kitchen.

Join us.

Observe a class and see our students learning in the kitchen classroom.  We host cooking classes in all five boroughs of New York City: Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. You can also experience our farm and cooking classes at Katchkie Farm.

Seeing a class will surely inspire you, but what next? Share your expertise with young people and teach a class. Guest chefs are welcome in our programs and we will work with you to share a recipe with our students, teach skills that elevate their kitchen literacy, and share your food journey with young people who are just starting on their path toward greatness.

Or get involved another way:

  • Teach a class with your own recipe
  • Design a special menu for one of our events
  • Curate a private dining experience as an auction item
  • Be a guest judge for a student competition
  • Provide mentorship and training to young and aspiring chefs
