Farm Senior Chef Instructor
While working to create a more simple and sustainable lifestyle for herself, Julie finally discovered real food in 2007. Since then, she has worked on small, diversified farms every year—growing food, cooking with the seasons, and creating welcoming spaces where others can learn to do the same. Julie’s love of good food, farming, and educating others about the joys of both developed over time with the help of her family, good cheese, and a few years living and farming off the grid.
With a BS in Environmental Studies from SUNY ESF (College of Environmental Science and Forestry) and several years of outdoor education experience, Julie joined The Sylvia Center in 2011 as the Education Director and Garden Manager at Katchkie Farm. Julie’s passion for food and farming follows her home each day to Wyomanock Farm where she raises vegetables, Scottish Highland cattle, and pastured laying hens.go back
