Chef Educator & Program Manager
Doreece Dyer has been a food educator for over 10 years at various institutions such as CUNY, Fortune Society, Queens Connect, and now a manager with The Sylvia Center. As an educator, she has worked to uplift and inspire people from all walks of life. As a chef instructor and sanitarian for Cuny, Kingsborough, Doreece taught a culinary job training program to previously incarcerated individuals looking for a fresh start and a new career path through Fortune Society. Her work with Queens Connect was to provide NYC young adults with DOH Food Handlers Certification and hands-on culinary experience.
As a community chef educator for The Sylvia Center’s Teen Culinary Apprenticeship program, Doreece empowers teens with the ability to build culinary skills and knowledge on nutrition, food access and food justice. As the Teen Program Manager, she oversees teen programs throughout NYC and Columbia County.
Doreece received her culinary degree from CUNY Kingsborough. She is also a 2020 40 under 40 Rising Star in Food Policy honoree. When she is not busy as an educator and manager, you can find her up at 2 AM creating cake and confectionary masterpieces for Rubies & Pearls, Teas and Treats.
