Ysa Pisor is a Chef Educator with The Sylvia Center. They have worked in restaurants since the age of 14 and currently teach cooking classes at a middle school for girls and nonbinary students. After spending four years as a pastry cook, Ysa discovered a passion for sharing what they’ve learned in professional kitchens with young people who are curious, creative, and eager to grow. Ysa is especially motivated by their students’ excitement in the kitchen and loves helping young people build confidence through cooking. At The Sylvia Center, they bring both technical pastry skills and a deep love of teaching to every class. When they’re not teaching, Ysa can usually be found working on late-night baking projects—like spinning ice cream or developing new cookie recipes—or catching a movie at one of New York City’s indie theaters.
