Annette Barlow
Culinary & Communications Coordinator
Annette Barlow is a writer, editor, and chef with a deep love for all things plants. Born in California and raised in the UK, she moved from London to Germantown, NY, in 2015, where she now lives on an old strawberry farm with her partner, cat, and 20-year-old tortoise. Annette’s career has spanned food journalism, recipe testing, and professional cheffing, and her culinary passion lies in celebrating vegetables—especially in unexpected applications. An NCTJ-qualified journalist, she has over 12 years of experience across magazines, newspapers, and digital media, and she's worked for publishing giants including The Guardian, Apple and the BBC. She's a dab-hand at making things look beautiful, and incredibly good at building nifty systems that foster creative work. In 2020, she pivoted full-time to the culinary world, rising from Hudson Valley line cook to executive chef in under three years. With a sharp eye for language and flavor, she's as comfortable with words as she is in the kitchen. She also runs a gluten-free baking business and has a passionate love affair with cultured butter.
