Benia Darius
Teen Programs Manager
Haitian-born, Brooklyn-raised food justice advocate and youth educator Benia has over a decade of experience working to build healthier, more equitable food systems. As the Teen Programs Manager at The Sylvia Center, she leads teen culinary and nutrition programs across New York City, centering culture, connection, and community in everything she teaches. Benia is passionate about empowering young people through food education, and she creates spaces where students feel seen, inspired, and proud of their heritage. Her work blends hands-on cooking with deeper conversations about health, identity, and justice–helping young people grow both in and out of the kitchen. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, cooking for her loved ones, and spending time with her dog Theo and two cats, Nala and Sirena.
