At The Sylvia Center, we know that food education isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline. This year, more than 6,400 young people across New York City and Upstate stepped into our kitchens to learn how to cook nourishing meals, build confidence, and support their families through hands-on culinary education. Our Recipe for Resilience captures the heart of that work: the ingredients our communities bring to the table, and the steps we take together to build healthier futures.
In a state where close to one million children experience food insecurity every day, access to healthy food is only part of the solution. Without the skills to cook nutritious meals, families remain vulnerable to preventable illness and rising food costs. That’s where our supporters come in.
Explore our Recipe for Resilience above, make a contribution here, and read our Annual Report to see how your generosity fuels resilience—one meal, one child, one family, and one community at a time.
Thank you for supporting our students and work this year! We can’t do it without you.
