Last week, we welcomed a team of volunteers from Meridian Compensation Partners to our Cooks For Health Youth program at Highbridge Green Middle School in the Bronx for an afternoon of cooking, gardening, and community engagement with TSC students.

Led by Bronx Programs Coordinator Yesenia and Senior Programs Manager Theresa, the group spent time harvesting ingredients from the school’s rooftop garden—designed and built by Nature Based NY—before joining students in the outdoor “kitchen” to cook and share a meal together.

Throughout the afternoon, students and volunteers explored fresh herbs and seasonal produce through smell, taste, and hands-on preparation, turning the rooftop garden into both a classroom and gathering space.

Experiences like these help deepen students’ connections to fresh food, cooking, and one another, while creating meaningful opportunities for community members to engage directly with TSC programming.

Thank you to Meridian Compensation Partners for spending the day with us at Highbridge Green!
