Kids Don’t Learn if They’re Hungry

As families continue to face increased challenges to accessing fresh, healthy, and affordable food, nearly half of parents statewide are concerned about access to meals and food for their children. 

This hunger can impact a student’s ability to learn, with research demonstrating that students who face food insecurity are more likely to be unable to concentrate, have poor academic performance, and increased behavioral problems.

With your support, The Sylvia Center can continue its new equitable food access initiative and high impact programming in the communities we serve, and help kids develop a toolkit of skills to be successful in the classroom and kitchen.

Every ticket and sponsorship purchase will support our programs and provide food boxes to families in need across New York City and Columbia County:
