Joe Ravitch Co-Founder and Partner The Raine Group

Joe Ravitch is a Co-Founder and Partner of The Raine Group, a global merchant bank focused on media, sports, and technology, where he invests and advises companies around the world.  Prior to Raine, Joe was a journalist, a lawyer, and a senior Partner at Goldman Sachs. Joe is an enthusiastic home cook and is deeply involved with food media in his work.  He and his family have been supporters of The Sylvia Center since its inception and are passionate about the power of good food in children’s lives.

The Sylvia Center is delighted to recognize and honor Joe Ravitch for his steadfast commitment to supporting the organization’s growth, and his passion for great food and healthy communities.

The mission of ExpandED Schools is to close the learning gap by increasing access to enriched education experiences.  Through their many programs and partnerships, in New York City and on a national level, ExpandED seeks to ensure that all kids have opportunities to discover their talents and develop their full potential.

Chef and Owner, Altamarea Group

Chef Michael White is a multiple Michelin and New York Times-starred chef and restaurateur. As Chef and Owner of Altamarea Group, he oversees fifteen acclaimed restaurants in New York City and the Northeast, and further afield in Hong Kong, Istanbul, and London. Chef White has guest taught in the Teen Apprenticeship, and curated the menu for the Art of Cooking gala in 2016. The Sylvia Center is honored to welcome Chef White back as our Curating Chef for the Art of Cooking 2017.

 

Nicholas Morgenstern

Owner and Founder, Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream

Nicholas Morgenstern is a chef and restaurateur, with extensive pastry experience in some of NewYork’s finest establishments. Nicholas opened Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream in 2014, focused on serving texture-driven small-batch ice creams with a renewed attention to flavor and palate — each recipe is developed with the flavor profile in mind first. This fall, Nicholas is working with graduates of The Sylvia Center’s Teen Apprenticeship program to develop three unique flavors exclusively for the Art of Cooking 2017 that reflect TSC’s mission and the diverse cultures and culinary backgrounds of our students. Art of Cooking guests will have a chance to vote for their favorite flavor, and the winning flavor will be sold in Morgenstern’s for the month following the event.
