This recipe is great, because you can customize it anyway you like! However you decide to make your salsa, the main base ingredients are onions, garlic, chili pepper, cilantro and lime juice. This will give that classic salsa flavor, and then you can incorporate any other fruit or veggie you like.
Some other great salsa combos you can make are mango black bean salsa, and avocado pineapple salsa. Salsa is a great way to add a burst of flavor to your dishes and includes a great variety of vitamins to your meal.
Fresh Salsa Verde
Makes 1 cup
6-7 tomatillos, husked removed
1-2 serrano or jalapeno peppers (remove the seeds for a milder salsa)
¼ cup of cilantro leaves, stems removed
¼ cup of water
½ teaspoon of cumin
¼ cup of onion, finely chopped
- Combine tomatillos, chilies, cilantro, water, and cumin in food processor or blender.
- Blend until smooth and stir in onions. Season to taste with salt.
