Join the Farm Team

The Farm Team serves as The Sylvia Center’s young professionals council. Farm Team members are passionate about helping TSC achieve its mission of inspiring young people and their families to eat well, so that they may lead healthy and productive lives. Through fundraising, volunteering, and building greater awareness about TSC’s programs, the Farm Team strengthens TSC’s reach and effectiveness.

Farm Team Member Typical Profile

  • Up and coming New York City professionals
  • Range in age from 25 to 40+
  • May have ties to or involvement in the fields of food and health

Farm Team Members Role with The Sylvia Center

  • Contribute personally and help with fundraising
  • Attend at least one TSC event each year, including: Farm to Table Dinner, The Art of Cooking, Cooking Class at Mae Mae, Happy Hour
  • Promote TSC events and initiatives to a broader audience and invite contacts to join TSC’s mailing list
  • Help identify and recruit new Farm Team members

Farm Team Members may also opt to contribute in one or more of the following ways:

  • Volunteer to help organize a Farm Team event
  • Serve on the Farm Team leadership committee (four planning meetings per year)
  • Volunteer for a 6-week TSC class cycle (in NYC) or for a day at the farm (Columbia County, NY)
